Our art glass is made in the northern mountains of Pittsburgh, PA by Jason Amstutz and Dalenne Sauers. We make everything from fused glass and metal jewelry from recycled materials to signs, tea lights, magnets, installation sculptures and elegantly blown works, such as; lamps, vases, bowls, goblets and solid sculptures.
Jason's Artist Statement
My work is inspired by the fluid curves of the Art Nouveau movement with an emphasis on color relation and form. The ornate organicness of the work created during this period plays an influential force in my designs. The liquid state of hot glass lends itself to creating art of this flowing and graceful nature. The image of the molten movement of glass, its very nature, can be captured as it cools and freezing that moment in time.
I place a strong emphasis on the way the colors I use interact with each other. I enjoy the subtle transition they create through the work, how they play off each other while moving through the form. It is my feelings and response to, my communication with hot glass, color and form, that contributes to my own style.
Biography
Jason Amstutz was born in Blufton, Ohio in 1975, he moved to Dublin, Ohio where he enjoyed a high school with a strong art program. Jason won awards for both painting and drawing. He then attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, and graduated in 1999 with a bachelor of fine art in glass. After school, he focused on selling his artwork at art festivals and teaching glass blowing at a non-profit studio in Columbus, Ohio. Glass Axis offers various classes in glass and rents studio time to artists. While doing shows Jason meet Dalenne Sauers, an arts administrations director, and had instant chemistry. She agreed to do their first show together at Ann Arbor, Michigan after he created her a fine sculpture in 2001. In 2002 he moved to Pennsylvania and assisted glass artist Edward Kachurik in expanding his line while building glassblowing studios in both Fombell, PA and Athens, OH. To gain personal and artistic freedom the couple has developed their own mobile studio together and are active members in their community. In April of 2007 Jason and Dalenne were engaged to be married.

Dalenne's Artist Statement
My art is inspired by the constant exploration of glass with metals and art with the world. I am always learning new things. . . . . . . in the studio, at shows, with other artists, the audience, gallery owners. When you work with such an independent yet expressive medium as glass you never know where a piece may go. You just gotta be open. I try to plan but often the glass has a another direction for me. Glass is such a fluid medium that it really encourages free spirited exploration. I often make my art outside in the sunlight of the forest with the sounds of nature around me. I love the way glass completely absorbs the natural sunlight and energy around it. In turn, I can then pass that onto someone else. . . trapped in glass. Inspiration, art and love is meant be shared. Its this constant communication with the medium, the world and energy that inspires and fuels more exploration and the next project.
